| With
more than 6,800 monumental houses and buildings, Amsterdam has
the largest historical city center in Europe. Amsterdam is particularly
well-known for its three rings of canals. When the network of
canals was dug, 90 islands were created, which are connected
to one another by hundreds of bridges. |
In
the 17th century, the Dutch 'Golden Age', thousands of elaborately
decorated merchants' residences and warehouses were built along
the canals of Amsterdam. Besides Amsterdam's famous Red Light
District there are many attractions to enjoy in the daytime
such as the Royal Palace, the National Monument, the Skinny
Bridge and the Albert Cuyp Market |
